Our Whakatupu Tētēkura Year 9 kōtiro recently spent an afternoon at Puriri Primary School, lending a helping hand with repotting seedlings and connecting with the younger tamariki.
The visit was a wonderful opportunity for our rangatahi to give back to their community while developing practical skills, strengthening relationships and demonstrating the values of manaakitanga and whanaungatanga.
Working alongside the younger tamariki, the girls rolled up their sleeves, got their hands dirty and shared plenty of laughter throughout the afternoon. It was great to see them taking on a supportive role, encouraging the younger students and working together to get the job done.
Opportunities like these are an important part of the Whakatupu Tētēkura programme, helping our rangatahi build confidence, develop leadership skills and recognise the positive contribution they can make within their communities.
A big mihi to Puriri Primary School for welcoming our kōtiro and providing an opportunity for them to connect, contribute and learn through hands-on experience.
